My brilliant home is made of glass
But not the ordinary kind,
Light from beyond it cannot pass
'Twould render me completely blind.
What, then, keeps the place lit, you ask?
Your burning soul, fiery friend,
I have assigned you to this task
You cannot fail - souls have no end.
Come in, my lover, take a seat...
And do make yourself right at home
In glass I'll gently wrap your feet
Come, let me show you the glass dome...
The smell of glass, and love, and warmth.
The dreams of glass I've woven here.
The brittle rose, its glassy thorn.
I love you deeply, oh, my dear!
Why have you put on this sad smile?
Why won't you let me kiss your lips?
Your eyes no longer shine in time
Cold are your fingertips...
Oh, yes, I see...you have to leave
Well, then, I guess you'd better go
Before the crumbling sky falls down
Before I get buried in snow...
Thin shards of glass fall from my eyes
And endless cold is all I feel
The birds of glass - I hear their cries -
Their songs of ice they can't conceal.
My deadened soul is made of glass
But not the ordinary kind
The grief - I tried to let it pass
But shattered glass is all I find...
